GACE®
Testing At ETC Macon
The Georgia Professional Standards Commission (PSC)
has contracted with National Evaluation Systems (NES®)
to assist in the development and administration of the Georgia
Assessments for the Certification of Educators®
(GACE®). The purpose of the
GACE is to assess the knowledge and skills of prospective
Georgia public school educators. The GACE program helps the PSC
meet its goal of ensuring that candidates have the knowledge and
skills needed to perform the job of an educator in Georgia
public schools. The GACE are aligned with state and national
standards for educator preparation and with state standards for
the PK-12 student curriculum (Georgia Performance Standards).
Only two of the GACE®, The
Computer Skill
Competency Assessment and the Internet-based version of the
Paraprofessional
Assessment, are offered at the
Educational Technology Center located at Macon State
College (ETC Macon).

Registering to Test at ETC Macon
You must register using the
On-Line Registration System (OLRS) to be assured of a seat at
the testing session of your choice. If you just show up on a
test day we may be unable to accommodate you.
WARNING
If you have previously attempted a GACE
Internet-based test you may retake the test as many times as you
need to but there must be at least 30 days between attempts.
This means that if you took and failed the test on March 1st, your
30 days between would be March 2nd through March 31 and you would
eligible to retake the test no earlier than April 1st. The
testing software will warn examinees who try to test again before 30
days have passed. Examinees who retake the test within 30 days
are subject to having their test scores voided.
Paying For Your Assessment
The test fee for GACE Internet-based testing is $35. You will be
required to pay the test fee using a VISA or MasterCard credit or debit card as part of the
process of beginning the test once you arrive at ETC Macon.
You cannot pay for the test by check or cash or by using any
other form of payment other than a VISA or MasterCard credit or
debit card.
Please note that ETC Macon does not receive any part of the
$35.00 nor do we change any additional fee to administer either of
the GACE assessments.
Test fees paid by credit card must be paid by VISA or MasterCard or
a debit or check card that carries the VISA or MasterCard logo and
that can be used without the entry of a personal identification
number (PIN). Bank cards without a VISA or MasterCard logo cannot be
accepted. The merchant name that will appear on your credit card
statement is "NES-Test Fee."
