The Educational Technology Center (ETC) is proud to announce the pilot of R.E.A.L. (Research-based, Engaged, Authentic, Learner-centered) Classrooms for Real Learning.

The course content will be delivered using face-to-face and on-line methods. Pariticpants will integrate the tools of technology in an engaged learning environment to deliver units of study developed using the Grant Wiggins and Jay McTighe Understanding by Design framework and design template. School team members will meet collaboratively with the instructor to build a professional learning environment that supports 21st Century instruction, peer coaching, and mentoring.

The course consists of the following three modules:

1. The Engaged Classroom - Analysis and implementation of the components that are critical for engaged and worthwhile learning.
2. Authentic Assessment - Exploration and development of a repertoire of tools to measure student growth and understanding.
3. Authentic Learning - Exploration and development of classroom learning experiences that enable students to demonstrate understanding through performance.
