Spotlight on Georgia

Spotlight School   |   Application   |   Capitol Tech

How does a school get chosen as a SpotLight School?

Each month, a school is chosen from those who have submitted a Spotlight School Application* and featured on our Web site. The chosen school also receives a Spotlight School Certificate in recognition of their school being chosen that they can display at their school. Submitted applications should describe technology being used throughout the school and across grade levels. If your school has several classrooms that are making great use of technology, submit them together. Please be as detailed as possible when describing your school's technology.

Starting again in August 2006, a door prize drawing will be held from those who submit a SpotLight School Application. NOTE: To be considered for the door prize drawing, we ask that you submit a completed application via the web form, email or fax. So don't delay and apply today!

And it keeps getting better...

Once a year, one Spotlight School will be selected by the Macon State College ETTC to represent our district on Capitol Tech day. On this day, the selected team of students will share their successful technology use with Georgia legislators at the Georgia Dome. For more information, see Capitol Tech or visit www.ga-edtech.org/capitoltech.

Are your students enhancing their learning by using technology in the classroom?

Are your teachers integrating classroom technologies with software and interactive Web sites?

Is your school improving student achievement through the use of technology?

If so, tell us your success stories. Have a student or faculty member submit a Spotlight School Application* to showcase how the students and teachers are using technology to improve student achievement.

Is your school using technology to enhance learning in ways that are...

Effective?

Engaging?

Student centered?

Aligned with Georgia Performance Standards?

Does your school have teachers who are...

Innovative?

Exemplary?

Enhancing instruction?

Promoting higher order thinking skills?

Are your students using technology to...

Enhance their learning?

Create and design student work?

Help others to learn

The Spotlight program, which is administered by each of the Educational Technology Training Centers across the state, strives to:

Recognize outstanding examples of the appropriate use of technology in the Georgia K-12 schools that have been shown to increase student involvement and achievement.

Provide information on exemplary programs so they can be replicated at other schools.

Stimulate the development of new and improved programs that effectively use technology to improve student achievement.

Focus the attention of legislators on successful programs so they can be further encouraged and appropriately funded.

Our mission at ETTC Macon is to provide high quality service, consulting, and professional learning for Georgia's pre-service and in-service educators to advance the effective use of technology for teaching, learning, and leading. As we collaborate with our service area of 25 school systems within the Central Georgia area, we are exposed to exemplary and innovative ways educators are using technology.

*On-site visits by the ETTC staff may be requested.
